Kahn's Practical Self-Defense - Mixed Martial Arts for the Real World

Self-Defense Classes

Short Term Courses

Students may choose to take one level only, two, or all three levels.

Level One - 12 Weeks

The Objective of this 12 week course is to enable you to handle a one-on-one unarmed confrontation. We teach that absolutely every non-physical option must be exhausted first and then and only then, when you are left with no other alternative do you fight and fight to win.

Where safety is concerned you can never be too careful, too aware or too prepared. Have a plan now, decide now.

This is an outline of just one plan for handling the escalation of a real attack that we will cover in the course.

  1. Avoid Dangerous Situations
    • Common sense before Self-Defense.
    • Awareness.

    • Don't be a Target of opportunity. Our aim is not to make you paranoid, just to get you to use your common sense and plan ahead. Trust your radar. Your instincts work. They come from a time when we needed them to survive. In our "civilized society" we don't use our instincts as much and they have atrophied. What's worse, when we do feel them we often choose to ignore them thinking that we are just being paranoid. You must trust those feelings and be willing to act on them.

  2. Leave, get out of there!

    • If you find yourself in a situation you don't want to be in then leave, as soon and as quickly as possible. That includes running. Go to a store or a restaurant, anywhere there are other people.

  3. You have been prevented from leaving: THE LINE HAS BEEN CROSSED
    • Verbal De-escalation.
    • Draw attention to your situation.

    • Make any attempt to create noise (Yell) or do anything to let people know you need help. Even if it is not answered if the attacker thinks it might be, not wanting to get caught, he may end the assault.

  4. DEFEND YOURSELF, FIGHT BACK
    • Be 100% committed to your plan of action.

    • Act immediately. Your best chance of escape is before the attacker can consolidate his position (Don’t let him move you, does he have duct tape or rope?).The Physical techniques we will teach you can be devastating but you can’t afford to be queasy and hold back. It's all or nothing. Think of the alternative.

Level Two - an additional 12 Weeks for a total of 24 weeks

In addition to continuing and building on the level one course work we will begin to teach you techniques and strategies for dealing with: multiple attackers, an individual armed attacker and what to do if you find yourself fighting on the ground. Many new practice/training drills will be introduced to really put all your new knowledge to use.

Level Three - a further 12 Weeks giving you the complete 36 weeks KPSD Self-Defense system

Continuing to build on both level one and level two course work we now take you through the complete system. Once that is accomplished we will begin to take your training to another level with the use of full Scenario training/role playing and combat/sparring. This will be done with and without weapons and with both single and multiple attackers.

This work will test your new abilities and challenge you. With the positive outcome of this work you will truly believe in your new skills. Combining them with 100% commitment to your actions your confidence will soar knowing that you now have the abilities that could protect you and your loved ones.

Ongoing Classes

Many students simply love the training and new knowledge they gain by continuing their studies with us. By continually injecting a wide verity of new skills and challenges to our classes along with the environment our instructors create, we find students interest to continue year after year. We have several students that are well into their third decade of classes with us.
